DJ hails Lions as he seals move to Accies
Fo r m e r L i v i n g s t o n goalkeeper Darren Jamieson has paid an emotional tribute to the club after his eight- year spell with the Lions ended on transferdeadline day.
The local lad joined the club as a 16- year- old and went on to be a firm favourite with the fans during his 101 appearances but left on Wednesday to pen a deal with Hamilton Academical.
The 25-year-old had fallen down the pecking order at the Tony Macaroni Arena, signing a loan deal with Junior outfit Bo’ness United earlier in the season.
He commented: “I appreciate everything that the fans, all the staff, the board members and team-mates have done for me during my time at the club. I’m really grateful for everything.
“I came to Livingston as a 16-year-old boy and turned into a man within the eight years I was at the club, so I really appreciate it and everything it has meant to me.”
Jamieson had the chance to say a final farewell to the fans on Saturday evening when he made the half-time draw in Livi’s 5-1 win over Celtic Under-20s in the IRNBRU Cup.
He added: “Winning the cup was an incredible memory and making the winning save in the penalty shoot-out in the semi-final, too. The way we battled back to stay up that season was just amazing.
“I got into the first team for a couple of seasons and got Player of the Year from the fans in both seasons, so it means that they appreciated everything I did and that means the world to me.
“I have a great relationship with the fans and have shared many great moments with them.
“I’m so thankful for everything the club and the fans have done for me.
“It will always be a special club to me and it will always be a special group of fans, Any time I can come back to watch a game, I’ll do it. Hopefully I can be welcomed every time I come back.”
The keeper will remain at Bo’ness for the next few weeks to help out their goalkeeping crisis before officially making the switch to Hamilton.
