No two horse race

-

Livingston striker Liam Buchanan insists Brechin City have proved the League One battle won’t be a two horse race.

Darren Dods’ men sit at the top of the table and are the only team still unbeaten after five games, despite many tipping them to be relegation candidates.

Alloa and Livingston are expected to be the teams battling for the title come April, but City will be desperate to continue their fine form by leaving the Tony Macaroni Arena with a share of the spoils.

Buchanan, who netted Livi’s second in their victory over former side Alloa on Saturday, said: “I don’t think it’s going to be a two horse race. Brechin are currently top of the table and they are there for a reason.

“They’re a very good side and it will be a tough game for us. It’s early doors but they are the side that are currently in pole position.

“At the moment, that’s the team that we need to catch up for us to be in the position we want to be.”

As for the victory against the Wasps, the 31-year-old commented: “I thought it was a terrific performance and we followed on from the previous week.

“Alloa had been on a fantastic run and everyone has spoken about how well they’ve been doing and that’s all credit to them.

“We knew that it was going to be a big ask to take even a point from the game, so to get all three is something we have to be delighted with.”
