two males approached the 28-year-old’s vehicle at 8.40pm as he sat inside and asked to be driven to Livingston Village.

When he refused one of the suspects punched the car’s window before the victim drove away.

a short time later the man returned, presuming that his attackers had left the area.

that turned out not to be the case and when he left his car he was punched in the head by one of the attackers while the other attempted to hold his arms.

the victim was struck several times in the head and body and was later taken by ambulance to st John’s Hospital where he stayed until late last week.

Detective Constable Christopher Kay, based in Livingston, said: “I want to hear from anyone who was in the area of the EQHQ nightclub on the night in question and who saw this incident or who can help identify either suspect.

“this was a completely unnecessary and violent attack which has resulted in an innocent man requiring hospital treatment.

“this sort of criminal behaviour is unacceptable and I’m extremely keen to ensure those responsible are swiftly arrested.”
