Claim share of fund
Community cash
We s t Lothian community organisations are being urged to come forward with proposals to boost their community and claim a share of cash.
The £250,000 Community Regeneration Fund was set up to help community organisations support communities across West Lothian which were affected by the closure of Hall’s of Broxburn, since then more than £ 230,000 has been distributed.
And the fund is looking for new projects, especially in Broxburn and Uphall, to get a share of its money. For projects to be considered for support they must help people to become better prepared to enter or re-enter employment; enhance the health and wellbeing of local people; and/ or help young people to have more confidence and be better equipped to move onto a positive destination. Applications to support capital programmes will also be considered if they have a strong community focus. Executive councillor for development and transport and chair of the Economic Sub Committee, Cathy Muldoon commented: “So far, more than £230,000 of the £ 250,000 Community Regeneration Fund has been distributed. As the fund draws to a close the Enterprise Sub Group would encourage applications from across West Lothian but would particularly like more community groups in Broxburn and Uphall to come forward for support.”
