Jane is ready for role
A new social work boss has been appointed for West Lothian.
Jane Kellock has been appointed as West Lothian Council’s head of social policy and has responsibility for all council social work services, and health improvement within West Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership.
The position also carries title of chief social work officer.
Ms Kellock, has been acting head of social policy since April 2015.
Before joining West Lothian Council in 1996 Jane worked in the voluntary sector for 10 years in the fields of mental health, learning disability and homelessness.
In the last 20 years since then, Jane gained extensive experience in community care and as a senior manager for children and families.
For the past 18 months she has been responsible for the management of all social policy services which include adults and older people, children and families, criminal justice and health improvement. Looking ahead to her new role she said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed as head of social policy for West Lothian Council.
“I look forward to working in partnership with colleagues in council and health to ensure the delivery of high quality social work and social care services for the whole community of West Lothian.”
The a p p o i ntment w a s also welcomed by executive councillor for social policy Danny Logue.
He said: “I have worked with Jane for a number of years and I know that she will do a fantastic job as head of social policy.
“On behalf of West Lothian Council I would like to congratulate Jane on her appointment.”
The council’s chief executive Graham Hope was also full of praise for Jane and believes she will bring much experience to the council.
He said: “During her period of Acting Head of Social Policy Jane Kellock proved herself to be a very capable leader.
“Jane also has outstanding knowledge of social care and health, and her leadership will be a real asset to West Lothian Council.”
