Hopkin insists Lions must be at best

-

Livingston boss David Hopkin expects a tough challenge when Albion Rovers visit West Lothian this weekend.

The Lions sit second in the table, having won all three home league games this season but he says his players will have to be at their best to continue that run on Saturday.

The Wee Rovers were considered amongst the relegation candidates prior to the start of the campaign, but Darren Young has his side flirting with the play-off zone as they sit in fifth place entering the weekend.

And they are coming off consecutive 2- 0 victories against Airdrieonians and Queen’s Park.

Hopkin commented: “Darren’s done a great job at Albion and he’s been linked with a few jobs which shows how highly regarded he is.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game and they’ll make it difficult for us.

“We just need to make sure that we work hard in training throughout the week and that everyone knows it’s back to league business and knows their job come Saturday.

“We’ve been playing well and go into the game with confidence and hopefully we can pick up the three points.”

Elsewhere in the division, Jim Goodwin’s first match as Alloa Athletic boss doesn’t come any tougher as they travel to League One leaders Brechin City.

The Irish midfielder was named as replacement for Jack Ross, who left the Wasps to take over at Championship strugglers St Mirren.

Queen’s Park will be hoping they can reverse their poor form when they host East Fife and Hampden Park.

Gus MacPherson’s side have suffered four defeats in a row, and scored just once in the process, since defeating Livingston at the national stadium in August.

Two of the bottom four sides meet at Ochilview as Stenhousemuir, coming off their first win of the season, host Stranraer.

And in the division’s other contest, Airdrieonians welcome basement dwellers Peterhead to the Excelsior Stadium for the BBC Alba televised game, which kicksoff at 5.15pm.
