Entrepreneur wins award
A former student from West Lothian College has won the Kickstart Digital Entrepreneur prize in the prestigious Converge Challenge competition.
Richard McAdam graduated from West Lothian College’s BA Business Management course in 2016 and is now studying for a Masters in Entrepreneurship at Edinburgh Napier University.
The BA Business Management course is run as a partnership with Edinburgh Napier University, where students gain knowledge and expertise in subjects including international business, human resource management, international economics, international marketing, organisational change management and business and management challenges.
Richard has developed an innovative shock-absorber design and was one of only 10 people to reach the final of the Kickstart competition which is open to all student and staff entrepreneurs from Scottish Universities.
The Digital Entrepreneur competition was a sub-category where Richard used social media to gain votes for his business pitch. Richard gained the highest number of votes to win the competition, earning him the Digital Entrepreneur title.
Beth Brownlee from West Lothian College commented:“We are thrilled that Richard McAdam has won the Kickstart Digital Entrepreneur competition. We offer excellent support to all students, and it is fantastic that one of our former BA students has been recognised in this way.”
