Bathgate slip up at home to Tranent

- Round-Up

Bathgate Thistle’s up and down season continued as they suffered a 2-1 loss at home to Tranent.

The Jags have goalie Michael Watson to thank for the final margin not being greater as the newly promoted side took all three points.

Robbie Feeney scored a wonderful late goal for the home side to take his tally to eight in 10 games but it was no more than a consolation as the Jags suffered their third home league defeat of the season.

Also in the Premier League, Armadale Thistle are searching for their first point away from home after a 1-0 defeat at Arniston Rangers.

It was another hard luck story for the Jags, who sit second bottom in the table after nine games as they once again put in a solid display only to come away without a share of the spoils.

John Kane went close for Thistle as he struck the woodwork with seven minutes to go after the hosts had taken a third minute lead thanks to a Darren Leslie header.

In the Superleague, Fauldhouse United remain bottom after a 4-1 loss to Musselburgh Athletic at Park View.

Sean Murphy got things underway in the 20th minute for the visitors, who led by a single goal at the break.

Matti King doubled the lead just before the hour mark with a fine finish.

United player-coach John Boyle pulled one back within two minutes to give the home side a boost, but Athletic’s dominance finally paid off as they regained their two goal advantage midway through the second half as striker Connor Spowart scored.

And the game was done and dusted with 20 minutes left on the clock as Jed Davie fired home for Athletic’s fourth to condemn the Hoose to a 10th league defeat in 11 fixtures. Athletic handed a debut to Livingston lad David Porcher, who scored against the hosts nations for Team GB at the Rio Paralympic Games.

Blackburn United kept a hold of top spot in the South Division standings with a 2-1 victory at Easthouses Lily MW.

They remain two points clear of Lochgelly Albert after they inflicted a 4-2 defeat on Pumpherston.

It was a truly horrible second half for Pumphy as they went into the break two goals to the good thanks to an Ally McRitche double only to sink to defeat.
