Stoneyburn grab replay

- Round-up

Pumpherston’s valiant fightback fell just short as they were dumped out of the Scottish Junior Cup by North Region outfit Dufftown.

Despite controlling much of the first half, the visitors somehow found themselves two goals down at the interval.

Some fine goalkeeping from Connor Merson in the Dufftown goal and two well taken finishes from Darren Mitchell were the difference at the break.

Craig Martin’s men pulled a goal back in the early stages of the second half thanks to a fine strike from Craig Hepburn.

However, they found themselves two goals Nicky Frew’s first game in charge of Stoneyburn saw them draw 1-1 away to Ashfield in the Scottish Junior Cup Second Round with the replay taking place at Beechwood Park this weekend.

Mark Mooney gave the Fulshie the lead from the penalty spot but the home side grabbed an equaliser after the break.

Livingston United and West Calder United were both unable to cause cup upsets.

Grieg Mitchell’s men suffered a 2-0 home loss against Arniston Rangers, while Livi United went down 8-1 away to West Region giants Glenafton Athletic. Kieran McKee scored United’s goal away from home against the 2013-14 cup finalists.

Just one West Lothian team was involved in league action as Broxburn Athletic drew 1-1 at home to Newtongrange Star.

Former Livingston youngster Kyle Lander gave the visitors the lead just before the break with Ross Nimmo scoring a sensational equaliser midway through the second half.

He latched on to a corner-kick that was half cleared by the Nitten defence and rifled the ball home from 35 yards.
