Boss challenges players

- Fauldhouse ............. 5 St Anthony’s ........... 0

Fauldhouse United boss Stephen Findlay has challenged his side to take their cup form into the league as they eased past St Roch’s in the Scottish Junior Cup Second Round clash at Park View.

The result comes a fortnight after beating West Calder by the same score in the Fife and Lothians Cup but they sit bottom of the Superleague with just four points from 11 games.

Findlay commented:“The quality is there in this team and we need to start showing it in the league. This result gives us confidence going in to the weekend and I’m sure that our points will start matching performances soon.

“We’ve been doing well only to give away a stupid goal or not take our chances and that needs to stop for us to get up the table.”

The hosts took an early lead against the West Region Central District Second Division side as Rhys Devlin netted after just five minutes.

James Martin doubled his side’s advantage midway through the first half as the Hoose sat two goals to the good at the break. The game was effectively ended when Ryan McSherry made it three just after the restart with Jon Connolly’s penalty save for the hosts ensuring there would be no collapse.

And United eased into the third round draw as Kyle Richford and Gary Boness completed the scoring to leave the boss, who missed the game due to illness, delighted.

“From what my management team tell me, it was a fairly comfortable victory and a game we totally dominated,”said Findlay.

“The challenge for us now is to build on this and move forward.”
