We can go top at the Hedge

-

It had the feeling of a huge game on Saturday as Alloa, a team everyone had been talking about after the great start they had to the season, arrived at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

In the previous meeting, we were able to inflict on them their first loss of the season with a 3-1 win back in September and a repeat result would have been very welcome after last week’s disappointing defeat at home to Albion Rovers.

Livi sat a point behind Alloa at the start of the day, so it was vitally important to match them when it came to effort and spirit and that’s exactly what we got – and then some.

It wasn’t the prettiest game but we got the win that we craved. Surely that is a sign of champions? Grinding out results is a trait champions need to have and it’s what we did.

It was a repeat 3-1 scoreline which made it six points from six against a title rival. That could prove to be very important come May.

From the moment Mikey Miller scored his second goal of the season, with the other coming against Alloa as well, we never looked back.

Two sublime Liam Buchanan strikes that took him to the top of the league scoring table got us over the line with a deserved win.

The quality we have in the final third of the park was there for all to see and could be the difference between promotion and play-offs and has certainly been added to with the arrival of Raffaele de Vita.

Next up it’s another top-of-thetable clash. Darren Dods’surprise package Brechin City sit one point above us and it will be a case of the division’s best defence versus the best attack, so it’s sure to be an interesting and entertaining game.

Knowing a win would see us reach the top of the table, the players must be geared up for a big performance.

Let’s take a good following up to the Hedge and get right behind the team and cheer them to what will hopefully be three points.
