Royal Mail jobs boost
Seasonal posts
Royal Mail is to create 300 seasonal jobs in Bathgate next month.
The delivery giant is inviting applications for temporary postal sorting positions at its centre in the town from mid-November until Christmas Eve. David Condon, head of operations at Royal Mail in Edinburgh and Bathgate, said he was pleased to launch the application process. He said: “In the main it will be parcel sorting. All staff will be fully trained on the role and the safety aspects of it when completing their induction. We’re looking to open up the Bathgate sorting centre around mid-November until Christmas Eve this year. There are three different shift patterns between Mondays and Fridays and those are 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm and 10pm to 6am. There will also be shifts for those able to work on Saturdays and Sundays. It’s a very straightforward job but workers will be working to deadlines for deliveries.”
Bathgate’s MSP Fiona Hyslop said: “I am pleased that Royal Mail are creating around 300 jobs in December for what is undoubtedly their busiest time of the year. I always make a point of visiting the local delivery offices around Christmastime to thank the Royal Mail staff for their hard work and long hours throughout the year and I look forward to meeting the many new seasonal staff this year.”
Lothian MSP Neil Findlay added: “I hope that some of the people who take up these jobs go on to permanent employment in the Royal Mail.” To apply for the Christmas positions v is itwww.royalmailgroup.com/ xmas jobs or call 0345 600 1785.
