Style Squad see season’s change dictate choices

- Debbie Hall

From stylish winter coats to beautiful boots – shoppers at The Centre in Livingston are embracing all things cosy in the run-up to the festive season.

The Street Style Squad visited The Centre last week to check out what shoppers have been buying and they were treated to an array of winter wardrobe must-haves – all guaranteed to ward off the chill without compromising on style.

Six stylish shoppers were selected to share their brilliant buys in return for a Gift Card worth £25, courtesy of The Centre, which can be used in over 70 stores and all Centre restaurants. All six pictures will appear on Shop The Centre Facebook page on Thursday, November 10, and the photo which receives the most likes over a period of 48 hours will receive another £100 Gift Card from The Centre.

First up on the style radar was Hannah Donnington ( 36) from Edinburgh. Hannah had popped in to The Centre with her mum, after picking up her two children from school.

They were on their way to Smiggle for some stylish stationery treats when a chic grey coatigan in Next caught Hannah’s eye.

Hannah said: “I couldn’t resist getting the coat when I saw it today – it’s great for layering up this autumn and winter and it will add a cosy texture to any outfit.”

The next lucky shopper to catch the Style Squad’s eye was 23-year-old Heather Hunter, a carer from Kinglassie in Fife.

Heather was visiting The Centre with her boyfriend Jordan and was looking for a new winter jacket. She found just what she was looking for in Topshop – a stylish but practical khaki padded jacket with a fun fur trimmed hood.

She said: “I’m so pleased with it – it’s warm and toasty and perfect for winter.”

The next shopper with a passion for fashion was 25- year- old Rachel Williams, an IT Project Manager from Middlesbrough, who was up in West Lothian for a few days visiting her partner.

Rachel had only been in The Centre for an hour when she was stopped by the Street Style Squad but had managed to amass an impressive handful of shopping bags, with purchases including a gorgeous dress and faux suede boots from River Island.

Rachel commented: “It’s been a really lucky day – I’ve found something in practically every shop.”

The Street Style Squad couldn’t resist checking out the purchases of Abby Taylor, a 20- year- old student from Kirkcaldy.

Abby had popped in to The Centre with her boyfriend on the hunt for an outfit for an event – and they found just what they needed and ended up with a few extra items which caught their eye.

Abby said: “I love the variety of shops in The Centre – I usually shop at River Island, Topshop and JD Sports. I’m really pleased with everything we’ve bought and my student discount has certainly come in handy.”

The next lucky shopper was Phillip Hodgson, a 28-year-old welding inspector, currently working at Black Law Windfarm in North Lanarkshire.

It was Phillip’s first visit to The Centre but after a successful shopping trip with his girlfriend he is keen to return soon.

Phillip said: “I’ve just bought my second pair of Timberland boots, they’re worth the investment as they’re well made and really comfortable. We’re planning to hit a few more shops before we head home, though we might need a coffee first.”

The final stylish shopper was Karen Johnson ( 64) a retired teacher from Plymouth. Karen was in the area visiting family and she popped in to The Centre with her daughter and grandchildren to check out the latest offerings for autumn winter.

Karen said: “I completely forgot to take a coat on holiday with me – but I’ve ended up finding not one, but three, that I had to have.”
