offering support and advocacy service to adults and children experienci­ng domestic abuse and in the last year alone, they have received over 1500 referrals locally.

Between one in four and one in five women will be a victim of violence of this type. It affects women and children of all ages, local victims range from just 14 years of age up to 86 years old. Those with vulnerabil­ities such as learning difficulti­es or physical disabiliti­es are particular­ly susceptibl­e to this form of harm.

Violence against women is an issue in West Lothian and we recognise the need to do everything in our power to address this crime.

On a daily basis, my staff prioritise incidents of domestic abuse and other forms of violence against women and work closely with partners to target offenders as well as provide support to victims and their families.

The intention of the campaign is to increase confidence in reporting this issue, both by victims themselves and the wider community.
