The Hogmanay Bash will be held on Saturday December 31st, with cabaret by Frankie B. Tickets cost £10. Tickets for both events are available from the Club House Bar Kirk of Calder 4th of December at 2pm Kirk of Calder is holding a short service of reflection and remembranc­e on Sunday 4th December at 2pm, for anyone who has had a bereavemen­t. Christmas is often a time when we think of our family members who are no longer with us, the kirk has introduced this afternoon service for those of you who would like the space and time to do so. Refreshmen­ts will be served afterwards. Kirk of Calder will hold a short (30 minutes) informal service for members of the congregati­on who no longer can sit through an hour long service. This will be held in the Kirk of Calder on Sunday 11th December at 2pm and transport can be arranged for you if you would like to attend. Mid Calder Community The Mid Calder Gala Committee would like to kindly ask the members of this lovely community to please come forward if you can help in any way throughout our gala year. We understand that not everyone is able to come on board the committee but as a small group of volunteers, we are reaching out to gather as many helpers as possible throughout the year. Thanks again for your ongoing support Mid Calder Primary School Fair will be held on Friday 2nd December from 6pm -8pm. There will be a wide variety of stalls including various traders and local businesses. Mid Calder Boys’ Brigade will be holding their Christmas Fayre on Saturday 3rd December in the Glenalmond Hall from 10.00 to noon. There will be a variety of stalls including Body Shop, Forever Living, Raffle for a Hamper, Tombola, Home Baking etc. Entry is £2.00 which includes refreshmen­ts Mid Calder Children’s Gala presents their annual Christmas Torchlight Procession. Join us on Saturday 3rd December to celebrate the beginning of the Festive Season. There will be a short Carol Service at the Kirk of Calder at 6pm, we will then meet outside the Kirk for the Torchlight Procession, led by Santa and his Sleigh, at about 6.30pm. The Procession will proceed to the Village Christmas Tree for the Tree Lighting. Afterwards the children can visit Santa in his Grotto in the Institute Hall, where the drawing of the 2017 Gala Royal Court will take place while refreshmen­ts of mulled wine , hot chocolate and a mince pies are enjoyed. The Gala Committee would like to thank the Community Council for providing all the refreshmen­ts. Gala Royal Court 2017 have been issued to the Mid Calder, East Calder and St Paul’s Primary school for distributi­on. Copies are also available from the Institute Hall for children who are residents of Mid Calder but so not attend the aforementi­oned schools. Remember, it’s a fun thing to do and makes for some lovely memories.
