Moira Hendrie 01501 762591 moirahendrie14@gmail.com Scots Night will be held in the Breich Valley Church, Bents on Wednesday 30th November at 7.15pm. Cost is £5, includes supper. Entertainment by Quern. Everyone welcome Coffee morning in the Breich Valley Church, Bents, on the last Saturday of every month from 10am–noon. Some stalls. All welcome. Stoneyburn’s Rich Heritage An enthusiastic group have been meeting to explore the rich and often surprising heritage of Stoneyburn and Bents. They began by looking at the mining history of the area and borrowed some of the reminiscence boxes from the Local History Library to prompt memories of working in the mines around Stoneyburn. People have brought their stories and photographs. More was discovered looking on line and with visits to the Local History Library in Linlithgow to find out more information. We looked at old maps and saw how the village has developed over the years. We looked at archive photos illustrating Stoneyburn’s past and read newspaper articles which give a taste of how everyday life was so different and yet not so different. The group have suggested we develop all of this into a Heritage walk. We have arranged with Generation Arts some funding to develop this. They will support the group to create a permanent record, in the form of an illustrated heritage walk and artists’ book, of important historical facts, events and buildings (existing and non existent) that were/are a part of the local history of Stoneyburn. Key moments/people/events/buildings. They will fund a writer and artists to support the production of online and hard copy information about locations in Stoneyburn using the information that we have gathered. We would welcome anyone who would like to contribute their memories and local knowledge. Hope you can come along. The meetings are on Tuesdays at 1.30pm – 3pm at Stoneyburn Community Centre.
