Do you have any photos of Blackridge school? These could be class photos or personal. The school hope to have an exhibition at their open day in January and would be grateful of photos of any kind relating to the school. If you can help please contact the school. Any photos given would be scanned and returned. Annual outing to Peebles this year will be on Tuesday 29th November. There are still a few seats left for this outing, cost is £28 which includes lunch at the Greentree Hotel. Contact any of the committee if you wish to go. This is a good opportunit­y for some early Christmas Shopping. Blackridge Primary School are planning an open day to welcome parents, careers, community members and former pupils to come and see the new extension to the school and to view the pupils Art Gallery on Wednesday January 18th from 9-30a.m. till 5-30p.m. If you would like to view the extension before then feel free to contact the school on 01501 751223 and you are more than welcome to come in for a tour. Blackridge Old Folks Committee have organised a St Andrews Ceilidh in the Craiginn Centre on Saturday 26th November. Tickets cost £5, which includes a buffet. Music will be by John Morgan and the wearing of tartan is optional. Councillor Stuart Borrowman was the guest at last week’s meeting of the Monday Club. He gave a most interestin­g talk on his various visits abroad including Croatia, Romania and South Africa. The group throughly enjoyed listening to some of his experience­s. Stuart was duly thanked and tea was served. The remainder of the afternoon was spent playing scrabble. SWI Tracy Hill welcomed everyone to the November meeting of the S.W.I. Routine business was carried out before Tracy introduced the guest for the evening Alex Kennedy who was to give a very interestin­g and sometimes funny demonstrat­ion on the making of Christmas Decoration­s giving some of the members the opportunit­y to do hands on. Alex was thanked on behalf of the group by Flora Vance. Competitio­n results for the evening were, Favourite Biscuit Tin, 1st Mary McNee, 2nd Connie Walley and 3rd Lorna Walley. Cross Stitch Item, 1st, Mary McNee, 2nd Margaret Robb and 3rd Lorna Walley. Coconut Ice, 1st Mary McNee, 2nd Connie Walley and 3rd Lorna Walley. The bus for the Peebles outing will leave Harthill at 9a.m. Blackridge 9-10a.m. The S.W.I. Are to do demonstrat­ions at Dobbies Ladies Night on December 1st. The winner of the RagDoll for MacMillan was won by Agnes Gray from Steps Dance Class. The doll raised £92. Thanks to all who bought tickets for this.
