The Guild meets in East Calder Church Hall at 7.30pm on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. We have a very varied programme. We would welcome anyone, male or female to come along and join us. The energy advice worker for WLFIN, Ian McIntosh is carrying out home visits for anyone requiring basic energy saving advice and help with utility bills. Simply Play at Kirknewton provides award winning afterschoo­l childcare in Kirknewton. They are based in Kirknewton Primary school and collect children from the school. For vacancies and further informatio­n please call the club manager Hazel on 07871 791000.

Drop in to The Green Room each weekday morning for a cup of tea or coffee and a chat between 9-1pm. The session is supported by a local volunteer. Lap tops are available for use, Ipad mini’s as well as KOBO readers. Our eco-friendly building is cosy and warm so feel free to pop in and find out what is happening in the local community.

Guitar lessons are held every Thursday for in the Green Room at 6.30-7.30pm 8-10 years,7.30-8.30pm 11+ and 8.30-9.30pm adults. It is £10 a session.Learn about all aspects of the guitar, from playing your first chords and scales to writing your own songs, performing in a group and learning about music theory. Suitable for all ages and based around the music that you enjoy, these classes will inspire you to find your inner creative side. Kirknewton Youth Club is a weekly group for S1-S6 young people. The group is supported by a team of local volunteers and the Kirknewton Community Developmen­t Trust Youth and Volunteer Coordinato­r who provide fun and engaging activities for the young people of the village. So far the group has done a card trick workshop, cookery sessions and pizza night! Encourage your child along each Friday evening from 6-8pm, £1 in the Green Room

BOXCIR Come along to the Village Hall for BOXCIR which is a combinatio­n of boxing and cardio/strength circuit stations. Its a fantastic way to build stamina, strength and all over body fitness. Includes pad work, skipping, instructor led boxing tech-

niques and specific abdominal exercise for male and females 18 years and over, all levels of fitness welcome. This class is held on Mondays from 7-8.30pm with first session free and £2.50 thereafter. Contact Michael on 01506 885848.

Playgroup is held in the Village Hall on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9-11.15am during term time, cost £5 per child. We are a happy, friendly and safe drop off playgroup for children aged 2-4 and a half.

Rainbows Girls aged 5-7 are welcome to come along to Kirknewton Village Hall every Wednesday during term times between 5pm and 6.15pm. We have lots of fun doing different crafts, playing all sorts of games, learning new things, working towards special Girl Guiding badges and there is always lots of laughing going on.
