An advice charity run by C i t i zens Advice to support military personnel in Edinburgh and the Lothians has announced that it has helped more than 1000 clients.

The Armed Ser vice Advice Project – run by CAB with the help of Scotland’s military charities – is a onestop advice service offering support to service personnel on any problems, including housing, employment, finances and health issues. Announcing its milestone, the charity is now ramping up its campaign to reach even more clients by publishing a new ‘Get Help’ booklet at an event which will be attended by a number of the clients who have been helped by the service so far.

Karen McGhee, manager, West Lothian Citizens Advice Bureau said: “The Lothian branch of ASAP was launched in 2012, bringing together the advice base of the CAB service with the specialist knowledge of Scotland’s military charities. Since then we have been steadily helping local people from all of the armed services to deal with the complex problems they face.

“But our message today is that we want to help even more. We are urging anyone from the services who is having any kind of problem to come and see what help we can give you. Like all CAB services, ASAP is a free and confidential service.

“It caters for members of all the armed services, whether serving or retired, and also for their families. To get the advice all you need to do is contact your local CAB, or call our helpline 0808 800 1007, or visit the website www.asapadvice.org.uk”
