LRC duo score half marathon victories
Runners battle chilly conditions to race home
Lothian Running Club member Lana Turnbull marked her half marathon debut with an impressive category victory in Leith.
She was the first female to cross the line, covering the course from Balerno to Leith in one hour and 39 minutes.
Euan McInnes, who was 13 minutes faster than his team-mate, was the first LRC runner home on a chilly day.
And there was double reason to celebrate at the weekend for the club as, the following day, veteran runner Mike Leiberman won the male over- 60 category in the Pentland 7 Half Marathon - a course that takes in seven reservoirs across the Pentland Hills.
He finished 33rd overall, just ahead of LRC team-mates Paul and Shona Young, who crossed the line in 35th and 36th places respectively.
For Paul and Shona, it was their second runs of the weekend, having competed in the Leith Half Marathon the previous day.
Only three club members made the journey north to Aberdeen on Saturday for the East District Cross Country Championship at Bridge of Don.
In the Senior Men’s 9.7mk race, Colin Partridge finished in 58th place in 34.54 with Scott Nelson in 107th spot in 37.58.
Hannah Steel had a good run in the under-13 3.1km race, placing 24th in a time of 12.54.
Chloe Cox made it 33 first place finishes in the Edinburgh 5km parkrun on Saturday morning covering the course along the waterfront at Granton in 17.58 which saw her take the female category title and finish ninth overall.
William Moffat’s time of 19.26 in Livingston saw him grab fifth place.
