Fauldhouse hit by Hearts

- Round-up

Broxburn Athletic came back from two goals down at half-time to grab a draw against struggling Newtongrange Star.

The home side went into the contest sitting bottom of the table but they certainly played like a team that wasn’t lacking in confidence as they strolled to a two goal advantage at the break.

Nitten had a series of half chances but it was Broxburn’s Nick Locke who almost opened the scoring when his strike was tipped onto the post by Liam Amos.

Star took the lead just after the half-hour mark when former Livingston youngster Kyle Lander tapped home. Fauldhouse United were unable to inflict a first league defeat of the season on Kelty Hearts as the runaway top flight leaders grabbed a 3-0 home win.

That result, coupled with Newtongrange getting a draw at home to Broxburn Athletic, sent the Hoose to the foot of the Superleague table.

In the Premier League, Whitburn suffered a 2-1 away loss at Glenrothes.

The Burnie took the lead early in the second half when Gary Brass fired home from just inside the box to give the visitors an advantage they merited.

However, they would come away with no points after Ross Mutch and Ryan McDonald found the net in the space of two minutes to turn the game on its head. Brass would be sent-off late in the contest to dash any hopes of a comeback.

West Calder United grabbed a 2-0 victory in their South Division clash away at Easthouses Lily.

The victory saw the Cauther climb above their opponents and into sixth spot in the table.

Livingston United’s difficult season continued with a 6-0 reverse at Crossgates Primrose as they were left still looking for their first away win.
