Bathgate let slip winning position

- Tayport ..............1 Bathgate ............1

A late goal denied Bathgate Thistle all three points in their first Premier League fixture of the new year.

The away side dominated large spells of the game and that they were unable to claim the win in many ways summed up their season.

The prolific Robbie Feeney was thwarted on several occasions by inspired Port stopper Gavin Sorley, while Michael Watson was steady at the other end for the Jags although the defence in front of him were more than a match for the home attack.

The deadlock was broken by Feeney in the 80th minute when he raced behind the defence, beat Sorley and tapped the ball home.

However, Dale Reid was on hand to prod the ball home with two minutes left to ensure his side enjoyed a share of the spoils.

It has been a busy week for the Jags who announced three new signings and three contract extensions prior to the clash with Tayport.

John- James Henderson penned a loan deal from League Two side Cowdenbeath while Jack Henderson and defender Steven MacMillan also signed on for the Creamery Park outfit.

Signing contract extensions for next season were club captain Stuart McLeod and key duo David Taylor and Iain Griffin.

Thistle will be looking to pick up their first win of 2017 when they make the trip to league
