Sarah delivers success on home soil

-

Lothian Running Club star Sarah Inglis won the senior women’s race in the final round of the East District Cross Country League on home soil at Broxburn.

The LRC member covered the 5.4km course in 20 minutes 23 seconds to cross the finish line 20 seconds clear of Central AC’s Jennifer Wetton in second place.

Broxburn has proved to be a happy hunting ground for Sarah over the years, having won as an under-17 in 2007, under-20 in 2010 and now as a senior.

Her latest success comes a week after helping the East District to victory in the Inter-District Cross Country Championship in Edinburgh.

The only other LRC member in the women’s race was Kirsty McMeechan who finished in 89th place in 31:27.

Despite having only two runners, the Lothian girls still managed to finish a respectable 16th out of 29 in the team competition on the day. There was a better turn-out from the club in the senior men’s 8.1k race with 11 club members in action.

They were led home in 42nd and 43rd places by Malcolm Lang and Josh Dack, respectively.

The club was also represented in the girls’U-13 2.7k race by Hannah Steel and Robyn McDonald with Hannah finishing 30th in 12.42 and Robyn claiming 45th spot in a time of 13.20.
