Queen of the South so I guess to a lot of people it might be a weird one but I spoke with my family and those around me and we all felt that this was the right move to make and I’m delighted to be here.”

He added: “If you can win the title in any division that’s the ultimate goal and the top achievement for you as a team and individually as a player and you’d be able to give yourself a massive pat on the back.

“I’m certainly here to try and do that, as is every player at this club.

“It would be terrific, but ultimately as long as we get promoted you have to call that a success.

“This club needs to be back in the Championship and that’s what everyone, players and coaches, are striving to achieve every day.

“We’re fighting for promotion and it’s really in our own hands right now. I’m delighted to be here and be given this opportunity to hopefully win a title.”

Millar, who is cup- tied for this weekend’s game against East Fife, says he felt he has seen enough from his new side to believe they’ll be celebrating come May.

“It’s a young team, but it’s full of talented players and really exciting talent,”he said.

“I was at Peterhead before so I went in to that game knowing how hard it would be for us to get a result so I’m really pleased that we were able to get the three points.

“I think the score didn’t really reflect how good we were because we could have scored a few more and the goals we conceded were preventable, but every time you pick up three points away from home you have to be happy.

“That performance really showed me that we have what it takes to get results in this league and hopefully we can just keep building on that for the rest of the season.”
