Pittman signs up for more

Midlfielder extends contract with hometown club for 18 more months

- Sean O’Neil

Livingston midfielder Scott Pittman has signed a contract extension that will see him remain at the club for the next 18 months.

The 24- year- old attacking midfielder’s contract was due to run out in the summer but the club and player have agreed terms that will keep him at the Tony Macaroni stadium until at least 2018.

Local lad Pittman, who grew up in Pumpherston, said he was delighted to get the deal done.

He said: “I’m just delighted to get it sorted.

“The club is going in the right direction and I knew the contract was up at the of the season so I’m delighted to sign again.”

Pittman has been with Livingston since signing from juniors team Bo’ness United in 2015 – going on to score the opening goal in the team’s 4-0 Petrofac Training Cup final in his first season.

He said: “That was probably my best moment in football. My whole family came to see me.”

The attack-minded midfielder has also spent time with local juniors team Broxburn Athletic and also had a spell with Hamilton when he was making his way in the game.

The West Lothian lad says he is happy to commit the next 18 months of his life to his local senior club.

Pittman said: “When I was a young boy I wouldn’t have expected to play for my local senior team.”

Manager David Hopkin shared his player’s delight at getting the 24-yearold signed up on a contract extension with Pittman on the radar of other clubs.

Hopkin said: “I’m delighted that the club has agreed to get him signed up for another season.

“He’s been outstanding for me this season so he’s needed a new and improved deal.”

With Livingston riding high at the top of League One Pittman is hoping that he will be plying his trade back in the Championship next season.

He said: “The aim is to get back in the Championship, obviously, and play football there.”

Pittman will take one step closer to achieving this if he and his teammates can overcome second-place Alloa on Saturday.

Livingston sit 11 points ahead of their nearest rivals with a game in hand – but there is no sign of complacency when Pittman talks about the upcoming clash.

He said: “It ’ s another massive game for us against the team that’s second. It’s a game for us to pull further away but they’ll be trying to close the gap. Hopefully we can play like we did last Saturday and get a win.”
