Library’s revamp success
Strathbrock move
Broxburn Library and Community Museum has re-opened in its new home at Strathbrock Partnership Centre.
A £ 400,000 refurbishment has delivered a new library and museum, increasing the range of council and health services available at Strathbrock.
The improvements have resulted in changes to the main entrance of the centre, with a shared library and Customer Information Service ( CIS) area welcoming customers on arrival.
The works have also created a corridor connection to the adjoining Strathbrock Community Education Centre, further boosting the services available to the community which also includes a medical practice, pharmacy, café and council services such as housing and social policy.
Executive councillor for culture and leisure Dave King carried out the official opening. He said: “I’m delighted to see Broxburn Library and Community Museum re-open in its new home of Strathbrock Partnership Centre.
“The £400,000 investment has created a fantastic new modern library for the town, and the move to Strathbrock brings even more community services together under a single roof.
“Strathbrock was West Lothian’s first partnership centre and the addition of the library and museum will offer increased footfall and accessibility of services for residents.
“We have already seen 160 new members sign up for the library since the move to Strathbrock. Thanks to the Broxburn community for their patience while the move was taking place, and all the council officers for their hard work delivering the excellent facility for the community.
“Special thanks also go to Broxburn Woodworking Group for their excellent work in creating the furniture for the children’s library.”
