Film screening
The Calder History Group has arranged a special screening of two films about the shale industry in West Lothian. The event take place tonight (Thursday, March 23) at 7pm at the West Kirk in West Calder. It forms part of the Burngrange70 Commemoration, marking 70 years since the Burngrange disaster, and continues the S hale Stories project.The Community Development Trust will be screening the films.The first is a one-off showing of 15-minute short by BP from their archives that focuses on the growth of the shale industry, called ‘Paraffin Young - Pioneer of Oil’. The second is the BBC2 film ‘Scotland’s First Oil Rush’. There will bean introduction to the film by Maurice Smith and Brian Ross, the producer and director of the film.
