Youngster retains national title

- Callum Carson

West Lothian Artistic Gymnastics Club have bagged plenty of top awards at the Scottish Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Perth.

Ellie Russell is Scottish Junior champion once again – retaining the title she won last year, while her team-mate Laura Jane Core grabbed a bronze medal.

And the pair teamed up with Anna Cameron and Lauren MacCormack to take silver in the team competition.

There was also success for the boys with Cameron Lynn finishing second in the under- 14s event, while it was a West Lothian silver and bronze in the under-16s.

Aidan Jordaan came home in second place, just ahead of fellow WLAGC member Euan McLellan.

The results led to some of the team being called up to compete in national championships, with Cameron Lynn and Ben Johnston selected to attend the MAG under-14 British Championships and Aidan Jordaan competing at under-16 level.

Ellie is also going for gold at the WAG British Championships in Liverpool this weekend.

The club and the coaching team are extremely proud of all the gymnasts, with their passion and dedication a credit to the club.

WLAGC have also recently launched the Move Up Fund, with their current facility in Livingston in need of upgrades and improvements including new equipment.

All funds raised will benefit and ensure the children of West Lothian are offered the opportunity to participate in the sport of gymnastics within a dedicated facility.

The club is a registered Scottish charity and appreciate all donations and sponsorship from local business and public.
