Make sure Linked In is working for you

- Miles Duncan

Over half the UK working population have a LinkedIn profile, yet it remains the most under-utilised B2B tool out there.

Many people use it as a CV or simply list their job description, both of which may turn away any visitors.

Remember that our first impression of someone is often their digital profile and, professionally, that is our LinkedIn profile.

In my workshops, I teach attendees about the 12 key steps to a perfect LinkedIn profile and how, with a small chunk of time every day you can turn around a lacklustre profile, turning it into a tool that works for you and helps you achieve new clients or landing that new job you have been dreaming about.

To make this happen you need to be easy to find. Did you know that Google uses keywords in your profile as part of its ranking process? You can tune your profile to include keywords that people are searching for, which might mean broadening your job title and making sure that your profile aligns with your prospective and existing clients so they can find you.

Moreover, you need to have a route for people to contact you. So many people leave out their contact details on their profile so make sure that you have a real email address (you could generate one specifically for LinkedIn) and a link to your website if you have one.

Make it easy for your prospects to contact you.
