A new monthly ceilidh club is opening its doors in Linlithgow.

Linlithgow Burgh Halls, in conjunction with Ceilidh Scotland, will be launching a monthly Ceilidh Club which will be open to everyone. The venture is based on the successful formula followed by similar clubs across the country and is aimed at people new to ceilidhs, as well as the more experienced devotee. The music will be provided by one of Scotland’s top ceilidh bands; Bass Rock Ceilidh Band, who have a reputation for fusing Scottish ceilidh music with more contemporary rock and pop tunes, guaranteeing an exciting and fun packed night for all. Mary Gristwood is the band’s caller and fiddle player. She said: “We aim to ensure that everyone has a great night and that even those who are ceilidh novices feel fully included. We give full instructions and talk the dancers through all the moves so that everyone can fully enjoy the experience.”

Senior venue co-ordinator, Thirza Hockaday, added: “We are really excited to be hosting this event and hope that people come along and have a great night dancing to a top ceilidh band in the fantastic setting of the historic Linlithgow Burgh Halls. The Ceilidh Club have plans to host a public ceilidh every month in the Burgh Halls so please watch out for future dates and make sure you come along to get this off to a flying start.”

The inaugural ceilidh will be held on Saturday, April 8, and will be opened by the Provost Tom Kerr. Doors open at 7pm and tickets cost £12.50 which includes food along with games, spot prizes and a prize draw. The event will also have a licensed bar.
