The sun shone down on the Linlithgow Rugby Club’s Wee Reds as they hosted a Micros tournament on Sunday.

The Wee Reds welcomed P1-3 teams from East Kilbride, Lasswade, Livingston, Penicuik, Forresters, Boroughmuir and Edinburgh Accies for a fun day of rugby.

Everyone got involved in the games and it was great to see so many youngsters out enjoying the event.

Gordon Muir, Director of Micro Rugby, hailed the event and turnout and admitted that he was already looking forward to next year’s tournament.

He commented: “Thanks very much to all of the parents for giving us such a good turnout - especially as it was Mother’s Day.

“And extra-special thanks to our excellent Micros coaches who helped and encouraged the kids from all clubs to ensure maximum fun and participation in every game – and all while coping with last minute fixture changes with effortless good humour.”

He added: “The kids played really well with excellent sportsmanship and they may be excited to know that they were being watched not only by Edinburgh mascot Flinty McStag but by two former Scotland internationals, who were very impressed by what they saw.

“Of course a special vote of thanks to our two sponsors, CBS Consulting and Springfords Chartered Accountants as well.

“We’re looking forward to the 2018 tournament already.”
