Cadden: Cool heads for title run-in and all focus is on Brechin game

- Callum Carson

Livingston winger Nicky Cadden insists the club’s sole focus is getting the better of Brechin City this weekend despite being just two wins shy of clinching promotion.

The youngster netted Livi’s fourth goal in their 4-2 victory over Airdrieonians at the weekend – the fourth time the 20-year-old has scored against his former team this campaign.

That win coupled with Alloa dropping two points means that only an epic collapse would prevent the Lions lifting the League One trophy - but the speedster says none of his team-mates are looking beyond this week’s trip to Brechin City.

He commented: “None of the boys are thinking ahead at all. We’re all taking it game by game and the next one is away at Brechin.

“That’s what we’re thinking about and we’re all working towards getting three points from that game.

“We’re in a good position but we have to still work hard and put all our effort into winning games and picking up points.

“Brechin are a very good team, especially at home. It’s going to be very tough on Saturday but I’m confident we can get the win.”

He added: “We’ve got a great squad and a great changing room atmosphere. There’s real competition for places, which benefits everyone because we all push each other and keeps everyone on their toes.

“Raffa de Vita has helped me so much since he’s come in. Because he plays the same position as me, he’s helped me and talked me through a few things that will help me improve my own game.

“The experienced guys in this squad have all been brilliant.”

And the winger admits it was extra special to once again net against his former team - especially as he was getting grief from the Diamonds’ fans with that goal taking his tally for the season to eight.

He said: “I’ve added goals to my game this season which is something I felt I needed to do, so I’m really happy with that aspect of my game.

“It was good to get another one against Airdrie on Saturday. I seem to like to score against them.

“Their fans were giving me a bit of grief so it was good to shut them up a wee bit. I was happy with that.”

Meanwhile, Livingston FC have announced that an Extraordinary General Meeting will be held on April 17.

While the club are remaining tightlipped, one official insists that the “news is all positive”.
