24-year-old woman hurt in ‘hit and run’

Police are appealing for the public’s help in tracking down a car that was involved in a hit-and-run at the weekend.

Officers want witnesses to come forward following the accident near West Calder at around 8.45pm on Saturday ( April 1) on the B7015 Stoneyburn to Livingston Road.

A 24-year-old woman was walking home with her boyfriend when she was struck by a passing car, which then failed to stop, around 200 metres east of the junction with Happy Valley Road.

The woman was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh to be treated for a number of injuries, including a broken foot.

Road Policing Officers attended and closed the road for around two and a half hours while they conducted inquiries at the scene, and anyone who can assist with this investigat­ion is asked to come forward.

The vehicle involved is described only as being a small white car.

Inspector Richard Latto from the Lothians and Scottish Borders Road Policing Unit said: “Fortunatel­y, the woman was not left with any lifethreat­ening injuries and we are now eager to trace the driver, who may not even be aware they were involved in a collision.

“If you are the driver of a small white car, which was on the B7015 at around 8.45pm on Saturday evening then please contact police immediatel­y.
