Thistle sign off by hitting Dale for six

Ex-Armadale stars help deliver derby victory

Bathgate Thistle ended their season in style with a 6-2 away win over Armadale Thistle at Volunteer Park.

And it was their ex- Dale contingent who did most of the damage.

Former Armadale boss Jim Henderson signed off his threegame spell as caretaker boss of Bathgate with an emphatic triumph aided by two goals apiece from Stuart McLeod and Robbie Feeney – players he managed in his time in charge of Armadale.

The win sees Bathgate end what has been a frustrating campaign in mid table with 41 points while Armadale’s dismal season, which will see them relegated, is brought to an end next Saturday when they travel to Dundee Violet – the only side below them in the Premier League table.

Elsewhere in the Juniors, Fauldhouse United’s poor Su pe r l e a g u e campaign continued with a 4-0 defeat away at Musselburgh Athletic at the weekend before losing 2-0 at home to Bonnyrigg Rose.

Linlithgow Rose are still in relegation trouble after grabbing just a solitary point from home games on Saturday and Monday.

They scored a 1-1 draw against Camelon before suffering a 1- 0 loss against fellow relegation candidates Newtongrange Star two days later.

That result prompted the Rose into dismissing manager Todd Lumsden after just six months in charge.

Meanwhile, Broxburn Athletic continued their incredible goalscoring form in this campaign with a 6-1 win at Broughty Athletic which brings their tally to 68 goals in 27 league fixtures.

They host Hill of Beath Hawthorn on Saturday looking to solidify their place in the top six.

In the Premier League, Whitburn continue to battle valiantly against the drop and their 4-2 away win at Haddington Athletic on Saturday saw them jump to within two points of safety with four games in hand over St Andrews United, the team they are attempting to track down.

There’s unlikely to be any league trophy making its way to Blackburn this season after United lost their top-of-the-table clash with Dunbar United 1-0.

That result also means Pumpherston’s promotion hopes are severely dented as they need to win this weekend at home to Lochgelly Albert and hope Dunbar lose both of their remaining fixtures.

Stoneyburn grabbed their fourth win of the season with a 2-1 victory away at Crossgates Primrose.
