Tributes have been paid to a young Livingston woman who tragic ally died in mysterious circumstances while attending a friend’s hen do in Benidorm. Kirsty Maxwell (27) died after falling from the balcony of a room in the Spanish resort Death fall Kirsty Maxwell

during the early hours of Saturday morning after a night out with friends. She had only married her husband Adam in September, and as he and her family and friends come to terms with the sudden death of the former St Margaret’s Academy student, a JustGiving page has been set up to help bring Kirsty’s body home to Scotland.

And it has raised close to £30,000 so far.

Carolynn Simpson, who set up the JustGiving page for Kirsty, said: “We are aiming to raise as much money as we can to bring our beautiful friend Kirsty home to where she belongs after this terrible tragedy.

“As little or as much you can give will be hugely appreciated by the family.

Everyone who knew her would have a loving story to tell about her beautiful life.”

Writing on the JustGiving page, Cath Cameron said: “Heaven has been blessed with another angel. Thinking of you all, love from Aunty Cath Cameron and all the girls x.”

Annette Fleming said: “My heart is breaking for the whole family. I’ve known Kirsty for over 20 years and she was one of the most beautiful girls ever xxxx.”

On Facebook, Louise Lees posted a photograph of Kirsty and Adam on their wedding day as tributes poured in.

Chri st i na Hynes said: “Absolutely heartbreaking Louise. Thinking of you all, especially Adam. Feels like yesterday I was celebrating with Kirsty and the team as she was going off to get married.”

Ruth Bolan wrote: “Heartbreaking news. Thinking of you all, her family and Adam.”

Katie Walsh said: “A truly awful tragedy, my deepest condolences go out to you and all the family.

“Such a sweet young woman. Only got back in touch with her last year. Taken far too young.”

Investigations are still underway in Spain into the circumstances surrounding Kirsty’s death as her family seek permission to bring her body home as soon as possible.

A 32- year- old man from Nottingham, who was staying in the apartment from which Kirsty fell, was arrested following her death but subsequently released without charge on Monday.

It is understood the man let Kirsty into his apartment where he and four of his friends had been staying.

Spanish authorities are believed to be considering a number of possibilities that may have led to the young woman’s death, including that she was sleepwalking or disoriented after waking up following a night out with friends or that she may have been trying to escape the apartment.
