Cash joy for groups

Supermarket’s donation

- Marjorie Kerr

Three West Lothian community groups are celebrating after being awarded charitable grants totalling more than £ 900 from Asda Livingston.

Sands Lothian, Kirkliston Playgroup, and Craigshill Good Neighbour Network have all received funds from Asda’s Green Token Scheme.

The scheme allows customers at Asda Livingston to pick groups and causes to gain vital funding boosts.

Recipients are awarded funds based on customers dropping a green token into one of three boxes, one for each shortlisted charity.

Sands Lothian offers support, understanding and help to parents who have experienced the death of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or soon after birth. Kirkliston Playgroup caters for children aged two and up at the Pavilion in Allison Park. Craigshill Good Neighbour Network provides practical help, social opportunities and volunteering opportunities to socially isolated people of all ages in Craigshill and South Howden.

All these groups have received their funding thanks to the help of Asda Livingston’s dedicated community champion – Abigale Lorraine.

Nicola Welsh, chief executive at Sands Lothian, added: “The entire team at Sands Lothian would like to thank Asda Livingston for this incredibly generous donation.”
