Primary’s China pals

- Debbie Hall

Pupils from Armadale Primary School have made some new friends on the other side of the world.

The school has signed a friendship agreement with No1 Primary School in Teda, China.

This friendship link was conducted over a live video call through WeChat in TEDA, opening the door for the first time for friendship, culture and education exchange through the internet.

The two schools will develop communications, creating further international connections and widening pupils’international vision in learning, enhancing the cultural exchange between our nations.

The schools are committed to the exchange in the area of culture, education and curriculum enrichment through online learning, opening the door for communication between staff and digital learning opportunities for pupils, so that they can interact through learning and grow through exchange activities creating further international links to broaden pupils international vision and understanding.

Being the base for the Primary School Confucius Hub in West Lothian, Armadale Primary School has a visiting specialist teacher.

A school spokesperson:“Pupils have responded enthusiastically to this opportunity which they have used as a stimulus to develop their International Week resulting in the school winning a national award from the Scottish Social Enterprise Academy which will be presented to the pupils at the awards ceremony in June.

“The parents are delighted their children are having the opportunity to be part of such an exciting initiative.”
