Choice must be made between progressive policies or division
I was brought up and have lived in Grangemouth all my life.
After bringing up a family of three and now two grandchildren I know the struggles of family life and can relate to the issues that people are facing today. I am delighted that the Labour Party has pledged to raise the minimum wage to £10 which will bring thousands out of poverty.
Since May 2012 I have been a full-time councillor for Grangemouth, and Deputy Leader of Falkirk Council.
I got into politics to give a voice to those who don’t believe that anyone is listening and I will continue to put people first. I and my Labour colleagues will always campaign for the many, not the few, in our society.
Politics has completely changed in Scotland since the referendum.
It’s no secret that the Labour Party faces many challenges and has an uphill battle to win support back – I don’t fear these challenges, I relish them.
I am proud to support the only party that will guarantee to keep the Triple Lock on the State Pension.
It is even more important than ever for us to put forward our vision for a fair and civilised society and battle against social injustice.
The SNP says that it is against austerity yet continues to impose Tory tax cuts; a Scottish passport with reduced airport taxes is of no benefit if you can’t find a secure job, access a good quality affordable home, or even see a GP.
On June 8 the people of Linlithgow and Falkirk East have a clear choice between me and the progressive policies offered by the Labour Party – or they can choose further divisions in our communities and endless debate on the Constitution.
