The talented young winner of The Centre, Livingston’s competition to design its mascot has been revealed.

Libby McDaid (9) met Caly the Dog at a VIP sneak preview in the mall last week.

Libby, from Livingston, was blown away with the likeness of the mascot she designed in the competition where over 50 entries were received from youngsters aged five to 15, with her winning entry receiving over 13,000 shares on the Shop the Centre Facebook page.

Caly the Dog’s role is to ensure kids have a brilliant day out in the mall, attend and take part in all children’s activities and events and even help out the management team in the office when it’s busy. Libby, said: “I still can’t believe I won the competition and how much the mascot really does look like my design.

“It really was amazing to be invited along to the management suite at The Centre for a private preview party and to be able to say hi to Caly.

“I think the name Caly is perfect and really suits her – I can’t wait until all my friends get the chance to meet her.”

Ashley Bisland, deputy director at The Centre said: “We are absolutely delighted that Libby’s very impressive design was chosen to be our very first Mascot at The Centre, Livingston.

“It was great to be able to introduce Caly to Libby at our sneak preview and we were thrilled to see the look on her face, and mum’s, when she met the mascot for the first time, which is a wonderful memory I’m sure she’ll keep for a very long time.”

Libby also won a £100 Gift Card to spend at over 70 stores at The Centre.
