Hitting the heights for charity
Armadale man Douglas Tweedie took on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for the Western General Hospital’s Kidney appeal in 1987.
He was set to take on the Tanzanian mountain to help the hospital towards its £40,000 target to buy computers to help monitor patients.
Mr Tweedie, who worked at Hewlett Packard in South Queensferry at the time, decided to take on the challenge because one of his colleagues had endured two failed kidney transplants.
He is pictured with pal and climbing partner Scott Fairbairn, from Edinburgh.
