John breaks record set by Olympian
A West Lothian teenage swimmer broke a record held by a double Olympian at the Scottish Championships last month.
John Kean, 14, of Bathgate Amateur Swimming Club became the 3 x Scottish Champion for breaststroke winning the 50, 100 and 200 meter events.
Kean also broke the Scottish National record that was previously held by double Olympian Craig Benson who competed at two Olympic games.
A spokesperson for the swimming club, said:“John is an outstanding swimmer and one we’ll hopefully be watching swim for his country.“Kean also broke the club record for the 50 meter free and fly at the National Age Group Championships in Aberdeen.
Other young members of the Bathgate Amateur Swimming Club also set two new records and broke nine more at the Championships in Aberdeen.
Ewan Moffat age 13 set a new club record for 200 fly and James Kean age 12 set a new club record for 200 breaststroke.
James Kean also broke the 50 and 100 meter breaststroke club record while Rebecca Stirling age 11 broke the 50 and 100 meter breaststroke club record.
