-

Just two weeks after completing the 53 mile Highland Fling race, Lothian Running Club’s Shona Young was back in ultra action with an excellent second place finish in the female category of the 55 miles Cateran Trail race.

The circular route which starts and finishes in Spittal of Glenshee takes the runners through some of Scotland’s most beautiful rural countryside.

Shona, who completed the course in 10 hours 5 minutes 55 seconds, also placed an impressive 18th overall of the 93 finishers.

Speaking after the race a delighted Shona said:“I am super chuffed as it’s only two weeks since I ran the Highland Fling.

“The winning female broke the course record, and by only a couple of minutes I narrowly managed to get second female.’’

In the Loch Leven Half Marathon The Lothian club’s Malcolm Lang had a good run to place fifth overall and first in the over 40s.

Malcolm crossed the finish line in 1h 18m 48s which was just over a minute outside of his previous best time for the distance set at the Alloa Half Marathon in March.

Following Malcolm over the finish line were fellow club mates 47th Paul Young in 1:31.16; 120th Finlay Slane in1:41.01 and 252nd Alan Weir in 1:54.55.
