Golden opportunities in China
the past month has been an exciting time at the Chamber, writes Chief Executive Linda scott, as we had a recent site visit to Capital Document solutions who were showcasing their bespoke facilities which offer first-class products and services.
It was a joint visit with CeeD to glenmorangie in Livingston and gave us giving an insight into their successful continuous improvement journey.
as part of West Lothian Chamber’s introduction to international trading, I have just recently returned from a highly informative and successful trade mission with the scottish Chambers to the shandong province in China. the mission explored new trading opportunities and links with business, education and government organisations and looked at the creation of an effective channel for exchange of business between scotland and the shandong province.
the scottish Chamber’s network is working together to encourage and strengthen trading partners and overseas alliances to give scottish business more opportunities to capitalise on this area of growth, knowledge sharing and engagement.
During my visit some of the key areas identified as potential sectors which West Lothian businesses could look towards include electronic information, robotics and artificial intelligence, pharmaceutical, bioscience, r&D, manufacturing, engineering and smart technologies, products and services, logistics, agriculture, food and drink and even football management.
there are also opportunities in consumer goods, recreation and tourism services, financial and professional services and education.
this month’s business tip from member Harper McLeod offers some food for thought on initial steps into international trading.
