It will also be open to the public on Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon/ Tuesday 10.30am -2pm. This is a Big Lottery and Generation Arts funded exhibition and is part of a larger project to save and pass on to future generations some of the important landmarks in Stoneyburn’s past. The project also consists of a book and a walking map highlighting ten important locations throughout the village. A group of artists and local people have worked together to gather historical records, maps and photos, and make ten new stories and illustrations inspired by what they have discovered about daily life in Stoneyburn during the mining years. Artists also worked with children from the local primary schools to hear about their important places in the village. The children’s work, historical records and new illustrations will be displayed. The 40 page book of stories and illustrations, and the map, will be available FREE at the exhibition. We’d like to invite you to this event to see the exhibition, enjoy a light buffet and hear your views. Stoneyburn Community Education Centre AGM 29 May in centre at 6.30pm. Whitburn Library Flowers Suc

cess- The Whitburn Traders and the great people of Whitburn have rallied together and donated an array of plants again returning the freshly restored planter to its former glory. Someone severely let down all the people of Whitburn by stealing the new flowers from the display at the Library recently but rest assured the culprit has been discovered. Now the planter is lush and green again thanks to the Whitburn Traders and all in the community that helped. This is just a small example of the great work that the community can do when it rallies together. There is a vocal active community on facebook supporting the Whitburn Traders Association who have also been refurbishing other planters and benches recently as well as campaigning in the community, please support them and their good work, like and share their page and show your support on https://www.facebook.com/Whitburntraders.
