United in cup final

-

Blackburn United booked their place in the Scottish Women’s Football League Division Two Cup Final with a 2-0 win over Hamilton Accies Development in Sunday’s semi-final.

The victory, thanks to two goals coming in the final nine minutes, means that United have made it 13 wins from 13 games this season.

Natasha Frew opened the scoring in the 81st minute as she headed home an Emma Curson corner, before Kirsty Frew wrapped up the contest in the final moments with a calm finish under pressure as Blackburn booked a place in their first-ever cup final.

They will take on Bayside at Ainslie Park in Edinburgh next month.

It’s back to league action for United this weekend as they look to make it nine wins from nine in Division Two Central with an away victory at sixth placed Stenhousemuir.

United boast a perfect record from eight games and a goal difference of +61 along with a six point lead.

Elsewhere, on Sunday, Linlithgow Rose are at home to East Kilbride Girls, who have just four points to their name.

Murieston United have improved after a slow start to the season despite a solitary league win. They’ll be hoping to make it two but face a tough challenge at home to second-placed Airdrie.

Broxburn Athletic Colts travel to Motherwell to take on the Lanarkshire club’s Development team hoping to avoid a third straight league loss.
