KISS for birthday girl Georgie

Teenager asked on to stage to sing with band

A West Lothian teenage girl got the birthday surprise of her life when she was pulled up on stage to perform with rock icons KISS.

Georgie Bird, from Livingston, was attending the band’s concert at Glasgow’s Hydro to celebrate her fourteenth birthday when she was selected to go up on stage with Gene Simmons and company.

Georgie, who has the four KISS faces stencilled on her bedroom wall, said: “It was amazing getting to go up on stage with them. I’ve been a fan all my life, it’s the first music I ever heard.

“There was thousands of people there and I was very nervous but when the guy said to my dad ‘Does your daughter want to go up on stage?’, I just jumped up and said ‘ Yes.’”

As well as joining the band in the spotlight for their fourth song of the night, I Love It Loud, Georgie, her dad and stepmother also got backstage passes to go and meet the band and take pictures with them afterwards.

Greg, Georgie’s dad, said: “It was possibly the best birthday present she got. She’s been a big fan for ages.

“We were approached by two officials, one of them was the band’s tour manager, and they asked if they could have a word with me and borrow my daughter to go on stage.

“Georgie agreed and they told her she would be going up for the fourth song – and they put a guitar around her and everything.

“They also gave us some backstage passes and we got to meet the band and get her picture taken with them as well.”
