Gerry Hughes has raised more than £ 500 for charity after completing a marathon 11hour darts competition.

The money, for Children’s Charity in Scotland, was donated after Hughes organised a doubles competition which saw members of staff from Morrison’s in Livingston paired up with players from the Grand Central Raildroaders club who play in the West Calder and District Darts League.

Elsewhere, in local league play, the penultimate round of the over and under 50s league saw some superb action from first dart to last.

A brilliant 16 maximums were thrown on the night with Arran Edwards leading the way with four while Gordon Bruce threw an 11-darter for the fastest game.

With just one week remaining, there has been a change at the top of the under 50s league with Edwards’ fine night propelling him to the top of the table.

He sits pretty on 71 points but boasts a slender lead over Shaun Clow (70 points).

Paul Weir and William Borland are joint-third on 67 points with all to play for in the final week.

Things are a bit more open in the over 50s league where Gordon Bruce leads by seven points with William Harraughty sitting second on 42 points.

The man to watch out for, though, is Jim Mitchell who is joint-fourth on 36 points but has three games in hand.

Two of those, however, come against leader Bruce and Mick Burke, who enters the final week in third place.

Despite that, the smart money is still on Bruce going one step further than last season and lifting the title.

A depleted posse of West Lothian players made their way east for the Premier League in Edinburgh.

Those who made the journey all impressed, though, with Armadale’s Scott Baillie being in particularly fine form with legs of 16, 17 and 19 on his way to a 7-2 victory.

William Borland was also on the winning trail, losing a solitary leg on his way to claiming two victories that included two maximums.

Jim Mitchell continued his unbeaten run as he won a top-of-the-table battle with Stuart Ironside by seven games to five.

He was in fine form with six of his seven winning legs needing 18 darts or less as he remains at the top of Division Three.

Grand Central Railroaders 5-4 Doo Club Fanciers, Deans Bowling Club Golden Oldies 4-5 Kirknewton Innkeepers, Brucefield Crofters 4-5 Cawburn Highlanders, Tower Bar Knights 2-7 Stirrup Stane Indians.
