Where are we going?

Livingston now know all nine teams they will be facing in next season’s Championship after Dundee United failed in their promotion bid.

The Tannadice club will have to make do with a second season in the second tier after they suffered a 1-0 aggregate defeat to Hamilton Academical in the play-off final.

The first leg ended in a 0-0 draw in Dundee but the home side were left raging after Simon Murray was red-carded for simulation in the box after clearly being fouled.

Accies’ Greg Docherty netted the only goal of the tie with a fizzing effort from the edge of the box in the 62nd minute in Sunday’s second leg.

United will be considered one of the favourites for the title next season but can expect challenges from Falkirk and Inverness Caledonian Thistle, who were automatically relegated from the Premiership.

Livingston eased to the League One title while Brechin City were promoted via the play-offs, despite losing more games than they won, and will be seen as favourites for the drop.

Dumbarton continue to punch above their weight and will be in the second tier once again, as will Greenock Morton, the home town team of Lions coach David Hopkin, Dunfermline Athletic, Queen of the South and St Mirren, who performed a minor miracle under Jack Ross over the latter stage of the season to retain their status.
