Lions discover their fate in League Cup

Livi face a tough draw in the Betfred competition

- Callum Carson

Livingston have been handed a tricky draw in the group stage of the Betfred League Cup.

The Lions will have their work cut out to qualify, having been drawn against Premiership side Partick Thistle as well as fellow Championship outfit St Mirren.

The two remaining sides in Group H are League One sides Airdrieonians and Stranraer.

Livingston kick-off their season with an enticing home tie against Alan Archibald’s Thistle side, who are coming off their best season since 1980-81 after finishing sixth in the Premiership.

That is followed by a midweek clash away at St Mirren. The Buddies defeated Livingston 3-2 in a thrilling contest at the same stage last term.

Only the group winners are certain of advancing to the last-16 with the best four runners-up also earning a spot in the next round. As with last term, drawn games will go straight to a penalty shoot-out with the winning team being awarded a bonus point.

Meanwhile, the club have announced that due to requests from fans who have been unable to purchase season tickets, they have introduced a new payment plan.

Tickets can be reserved with a £50 deposit
