Ladywell clean-up Schools’ artwork prize

A second community cleanup is taking place in Ladywell this weekend, The event will take place on Saturday (June 17) from 11am - 1pm. Following the success of the last event in March, which was attended by 35 local people, the community have decided to get their litter pickers out again. Over 30 bags of rubbish were collected in March from along the local pathways and near the shops. Come along to Inveralmon­d car park with the family and join in with this fun few hours. Everyone is provided with a bag, vest and litter picker. An exhibition of artwork from talented school pupils has been hailed a success.

The Schools Art Exhibition 2017 opening night was held at The Regal Theatre showcasing some impressive work from the young artists.

All secondary schools in West Lothian were invited to participat­e and nince entered with pupils coming from S1 to S3.

Prizes were given out, with the Best in Show receiving a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses from Wallace Opticians in Whitburn.

There were 17 prizes in all, kindly donated by local companies along with certificat­es and colouring pencils for those who didn’t win. All entrants received a certificat­e made out by Alasdair Andrews of CPD Bytes in Bathgate.

Tracey Harrison, community champion on Tesco Bathgate provided a prize for the winner of the Customer Vote, allowing the community to vote for their favourite picture and the winners will have an additional showing at Modern Art in Whitburn.
